Fight hypertension: Check your blood pressure!

We have been raising awareness about high blood pressure with our #BecauseISaySo #CheckYourBloodPressure campaign for seven years now. This year, we invite you to take part in “The Bucket List” initiative. The message is clear: Live longer, healthier lives through earlier diagnosis and better blood pressure control. Tick items off your Bucket List and make your dreams come true!

The campaign will be promoted on social media throughout May.

Understanding Hypertension

Hypertension is a chronic disease characterized by consistently high blood pressure over time. It is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Ever on the rise, it is now one of the leading causes of premature death worldwide according to the World Health Organization1. When detected at an early stage and treated appropriately, hypertension is a condition that can be managed very well1.

Created by the World Hypertension League, May 17 is World Hypertension Day. This year’s theme — “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer!” — focuses on raising awareness of high blood pressure and highlighting low diagnosis rates around the world.

At Servier, webelieve that adherence to treatment is the key to ensuring effective care and improving outcomes for patients with hypertension and other chronic diseases. Our goal is to provide better quality care for healthcare professionals and patients.

Key takeaways

  • Take your blood pressure regularly. Hypertension is a silent, but dangerous condition. Although effective medication exists, if hypertension is not detected, it cannot be treated. That’s why you should monitor your blood pressure to identify the condition early on and manage it properly.
  • Take your medication as directed. If you are already on medication for hypertension, follow it carefully. Adherence is essential to ensuring treatment success and preventing complications. Appropriate treatment can improve your quality of life.
  • Trust your loved ones. They are in the best position to spot the warning signs of hypertension. They can also be there to encourage you to stick with your treatment and take care of your health.
